A goddess who walked amongst us

Sridevi’s death a few weeks ago shocked me, and I grieved and mourned as if I lost a dear family member. But a part of me doesn’t accept her passing. Sridevi was so much more than her mortal self. She is the gold standard of career goals, especially for other female artists, breaking the glass ceiling not just in terms of language and diversity of roles but pay parity, and often cast opposite leading men younger than her. Watching her songs and movies as a means to attempt to cope with her loss, has only confirmed one thing, that her screen persona has stayed constant, a balance of fiery, intense, coquettish and child like innocence, all conveyed through big soulful eyes. Sridevi will live on.
